Why you should never, ever use two spaces after a period.
Can I let you in on a secret? Typing two spaces after a period is totally, completely, utterly, and inarguably wrong.
And yet people who use two spaces are everywhere, their ugly error crossing every social boundary of class, education, and taste.

Where are they now?
This is what has become of JTT.
After all of my pondering about his whereabouts, I can’t help but feel like this is rather anticlimactic. Sometimes it’s better off not knowing these things. That way I could go on thinking that he abandoned his life as a child star to become a wildlife explorer or some kind of academic scholar, instead of knowing that he probably lives about five...
significant animals in my recent life
The other day I met a 9-week-old German Shepherd named Smoky. I don’t know if you’ve ever met a 9-week-old German Shepherd, but they’re made up of everything that is adorable in the world and have bits of leaves and twigs stuck to their adorable fuzzy fur when they run up to say hi to you. It’s a surprising thing when your previously absent maternal instincts emerge out of...

I’ve been allocating some of my valuable (albeit seemingly limitless) free time to examining the human case study that is TBS’s “My Strange Addiction.” The more I watch, the more I realize that I don’t possess even half the dedication required to truly sustain an addiction. I’m pretty sure the old lady that has 60-something smelly, blind, tumor-ey, hairless rats...
Exciting development in my household today. My mother finally signed up for Google Voice, prompted by an invite that I had emailed her in 2009.
The intimate stare down that I’ve been engaging in with my blinking cursor for the past three days suddenly seems insurmountable. Maybe it’s just in our cards to be two steps behind. I’m kind of okay with that.

I’ve come to find that Irene Cara’s “Flashdance” serves as appropriate inspiration for almost anything I embark on in my life. I just have a lot of feelings(!). Unfortunately, I’ve never actually seen the movie and I’m a fairly atrocious dancer, so this is as far as this analogy goes.
I’ve been spending a lot of bonding time in the park with Pink Lightning, my lady bike. It makes me feel outdoorsy and nature-y, like Grizzly Man (but without all the bears) or the guy from “Into the Wild” (less snow, less angst). I think the lesson to be learned from the fate of those two adventurous gentlemen is that nature is dangerous (spoiler alert: nature eats them), and we...
Thanks, Jennsfer. Gabe and Dennis would make pretty good Jemaine and Bret substitutes. I’m in, as long as we can recreate this photo. What say you guys?
Lately, I’ve been struggling with discontentment. More than usual—maybe akin to the feeling you get on your death bed after squandering your life away, or how the grasshopper felt when that jerk ant wouldn’t share any of his food. It usually starts off as a small, nagging thought, like “I wish I was born a beautiful Southern belle” or “I really should’ve...
